Ingredients:

  • 1 lb hot dog
  • 2/3 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Put hot dogs in warm water to keep warm until ready to use. I use all beef hot dogs.
  2. Mix dry ingredients and cut in butter.
  3. Mix egg and milk together.
  4. Stir into dry ingredients until well mixed.
  5. Dry hot dogs, roll in a dusting of flour.
  6. Dip hot dogs into mixture - it's easiest if you put the mixture into a tall glass.
  7. Deep fry in hot oil (375%) until browned.
  8. Leftovers may be frozen - reheat in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes.
