I have not tried these bars. I'm posting this for safe keeping. I found this recipe in Bake The Best Ever Cookies kids cookbook. Sarah Says: After you have made this recipe a few times, try designing your own granola bars by adding other dried fruits, nuts, and even candies to the basic recipe. Don't like walnuts? Try adding dried cherries or peanuts instead.
Ingredients:
1 cup granola cereal (250 ml)
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats (250 ml)
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped (250 ml)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (125 ml)
1/2 cup raisins (125 ml) or 1/2 cup mixed dried fruit (125 ml)
1 beaten egg
1/3 cup honey (75 ml)
1/3 cup vegetable oil (75 ml)
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar (50 ml)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (2 ml)
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 325.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granola, oats, nuts, flour, and raisins.
3. Blend in the egg, honey, oil, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Press the mixture evenly into the foil lined baking pan.
4. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges. Cool the pan on a wire rack. Then, lift the foil to help remove it from the pan. Cut into bars.
