My favourite stew made from deer, a typical hungarian dish for grape harvest.
Ingredients:
2 lbs deer (upper leg)
3 pieces onions
2 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons fat
3 bay leaves
8 juniper berries
1 large mushroom
1 cup red wine
1 cluster grapes (0.5 lb)
1 cup ready-to-use baked pizza crust (waret)
Directions:
1. Comminute the onion into tiny pieces.
2. Chop the deer into 1 cm quadrats.
3. Cook the onion on the hot fat for a few minutes. Add to it the juniper berries, the paprika, and the bay leaves.
4. Add the meat too, and mix, until it starts to stick a bit.
5. Pour some water on it (cca 1 cup).
6. Slice well the clean mushrooms.
7. Add it to the stew, and wait 10 minutes.
8. Pour the wine to the stew, and cook 10 more minutes.
9. Put the grapes to the bowl, mix it, and cover it for minutes.
10. Serve it with a big slice if sourdough bread.
