Yes, this is Chili. It is hot but not atomic. I am not a fan of things that take the skin off my tongue. I found this very good in spite of the semi-nuclear nature. :) Got the recipe from my next door neighbor.
Ingredients:
3 lb ground beef
1 lg onion, chopped.
3 cloves garlic, chopped.
1 lg can diced tomatoes
1 lg can tomato juice.
3 cans red kidney beans, drained.
2 cans seasoned chili beans
1 small can green chilis
1 pkg hot mccormick's chili seasoning
1 pkg reg mccormick's chili seasoning
1 can dark beer.
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated.
Directions:
1. Saute onions and garlic until lightly browned and translucent.
2. Brown beef in skillet, drain and put in large pot with onion and garlic.
3. Stir in all the other ingredients except beer and cheese.
4. Add 1/2 can of beer.
5. Simmer a couple of hours until beans are tender while drinking the other half of the beer.
6. Serve with a sprinkle of grated cheese.
