1. Combine dates & water in saucepan & cook until thick stirring constantly. 2. Cool 3. Cream butter & sugars; add egg & beat well. Add vanilla 4. Combine date mixture & nuts 5. Roll each dough portion into a rectangle 6. Spread filling onto rolled out dough & roll into a tube like roll 7. Chill overnight 8. Slice & bake on a greased cookie sheet 9. degrees about 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
