Daffodil Lemon Sauce

This is my favorite lemon sauce..I love it warm over Lemon Pound Cake. The recipe is from one of the older Better Homes and Garden Cookbooks..
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
4 teasp. cornstarch
dash of salt
1 cup water
2 egg yolks beaten
2 tbsp butter
1/2 teasp. fresh lemon peel grated
2 tbsp. lemon juice
Directions:
1. mix sugar, cornstarch, salt in a sauce pan
2. gradually stir in water
3. cook and stir over low heat until thick and bubbly
4. stir little of the hot mixture into the egg yolks
5. add egg yolk mixture back into hot mixture
6. cook and stir for 1 more min
7. remove from heat
8. add butter, lemon peel and the lemon juice
9. mix well
10. serve warm over cake or ice cream
