CRUSTY FRUIT TRIANGLES This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Notation on card indicates these were obtained from a member of “my” knitting group in 1958.
Ingredients:
2 cups sifted cake flour
2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 teaspoons grated orange rind
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup milk
Directions:
1. Extra sugar and milk
2. Sift flour once then measure and sift again with baking powder, salt and sugar.
3. Cut in shortening until well mixed then add orange rind and raisins.
4. Add milk and stir until a soft dough is formed.
5. Turn this out on a lightly floured board and knead 30 seconds then roll it 1/2” thick.
6. Cut in triangles and place them on an ungreased baking sheet.
7. Brush tops lightly with a mixture of equal parts of sugar and milk.
8. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes.
