This is a great recipe for when you are having a large crowd.
Ingredients:
4 lbs of pork roast (shoulder or butt are good)
1 (18 ounce) bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce
2 large onions
1 c. of ginger ale
Directions:
1. First you want to slice one onion and place in crockpot.
2. Then put in the roast and cover with the other onion, sliced.
3. Addin the ginger ale.
4. Cover this and let this cook on LOW for about approx. 12 hours.
5. Now remove the meat, strain and save the onions getting rid of all liquid.
6. Then with your hands, shred the meat, discarding any remaining fat, bones or skin. Most of the fat will have melted away.
7. Next return the shredded meat and the onions to the crockpot, stir in the barbecue sauce. Continue to cook for aprox. 6 hours on LOW.
8. You can serve with hamburger buns or rolls and additional barbecue sauce. This freezes well.
