This is the only way I like to eat apple sauce. I love the combination of ginger and pears. Keeps well in your fridge for up to 2 weeks! (not that you'll have any left!)
Ingredients:
6 large ripe pears, peeled, cored and cut into large chunks
6 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into large chunks
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 chunk fresh ginger, about 3 inches long, peeled and minced
3 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1. Combine the apples, pears, honey (you can leave this out and still get delicious sauce), water, lemon juice, and ginger in the slow cooker. Cover and cook until the fruit is extremely tender and falling apart, on low for 5 hours
2. Beat to make a corse mash or use a food processor for a smoother sauce (don’t over blend). Stir in the butter. Serve immediately or refrigerate and serve cold.
