Crispy Sweet Garlic Pickles

Whenever anyone asked for my mother's pickle recipe, she told them it was an old family recipe. Actually I think she just didn't want to admit how easy these are.
Ingredients:
1 quart whole dill pickles, drained
2 cups sugar
2 -4 garlic cloves
Directions:
1. Cut the pickles into large pieces. Chunks are best. Don't make the slices too thin.
2. Place the pieces back into the empty jar.
3. Add the garlic cloves.
4. Cover with the sugar.
5. Place in the refrigerator for at least a week or until the sugar has completely dissolved to form a syrup.
6. During the week, periodically shake the jar.
7. Store the pickles in the refrigerator.
