old family recipe from friend for a cream cheese yeast pastry No only for Christmas, great for any holiday! This makes 4 loaves each, so freeze extra!
Ingredients:
dough
6 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs
2 tablespoons yeast
1 cup sour cream
1 cup butter (2 sticks) at room temperature
5 cups flour
filling
3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese
3 egg yolks
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
1. Prep time, does not include overnight rising of dough
2. Start the night before you want to eat this delicious pastry.
3. Mix sugar and yeast and set aside.
4. Cream together the butter, eggs and sour cream.
5. Add the yeast/sugar and stir.
6. Add the flour and mix.
7. Refrigerate in a covered bowl overnight.
8. Set the cream cheese out so it will be soft by the morning.
9. In the morning, take the dough out and let it come to room temperature and make the filling.
10. Combine all the filling ingredients and mix well.
11. Using a food processor helps .
12. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
13. Roll out each into an oblong, rectangular shape, fairly thin.
14. Place the dough on cookie sheets (the edges of the dough will hang over the sides at this point); 2 per sheet works well.
15. Spread 1/4 of the filling on each oblong out to an inch or so from the edge.
16. Turn up the sides to contain the filling and pinch the corners.
17. Cover and let rise for an hour
18. . Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

20. To use, Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and warm up in the oven at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes.
