Crazy Mixed Up Cabbage Salad

Inspired by numerous recipes for cabbage salad,I came up with my own.A good winter salad when selection of veggies is slim.The beans not only add texture but protein.
Ingredients:
1 cup finely shredded red cabbage
1/2 cup white cabbage,any kind
1/2 a green pepper,diced
1/2 a small sweet white onion,such as vidalia,thinly sliced
1 large carrot,grated
1/4 cup sliced pepperocini,or banana peppers
1/2 a 15 oz can,kidney beans,drained & rinsed
2 tbls.sugar
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
1. In a large bowl combine all vegetables,toss to mix well.
2. In a small bowl,whisk sugar & vinegar,slowly drizzle oil,while continuing to whisk,until well blended.Note;this may be too much dressing for the salad.Slowly add to cabbage mixture,tasting until desired dressing amount is achieved.Add salt & pepper to taste.
3. Chill for 15-30 minutes before serving.
