Cranberry Squares With Pineapple

These squares are tart yet sweet. Great for pot-luck or holiday.
Ingredients:
2 cups fresh cranberries
3/4 cup crushed pineapple, drained (reserve 1/4 cup)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup reserved pineapple juice
1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a pot.
2. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
3. Lower temperature and simmer until thick. (about 1/2 hour).
4. Set aside to cool.
5. In a large bowl mix remaining ingredients.
6. Spread 1/2 of mixture in a greased 9 x13 pan.
7. Press firmly.
8. Top with cranberry mixture. Then with remaining crumb mixture.
9. Bake in 400 degree oven for 25 minutes.
10. cool and cut into squares.
