Cranberry Salad

This salad comes to us from the afore mentioned monthly coop magazine. It should be here too, as at this time of year we all love to make salads!!
Ingredients:
12 ounces fresh cranberries
2 cups sugar
4 medium tart apples
1/3 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup purple seedless grapes1/2 cup walnuts, chopped ( i prefer pecans)
1/3 cup mayonnaise (i used fit and active)
Directions:
1. Wash cranberries and drain.
2. Coarsely chop cranberries.
3. Pour sugar over berries.
4. Stir, cover, and chill for 4 hours.
5. Place cranberries in colander and allow to drain well (this could take up to half and hour).
6. When cranberries are drained, core and chop apples, leaving the peel on.
7. Combine apples, celery, grapes, walnuts and mayonnaise.
8. Gentle fold in cranberries and serve cold.
