a truely old time christmas or thanksgiving recipe that my family loves and has become a family tradition to make as a substitute for cranberry relish Buy Fresh cranberries and freeze to make grinding splash free. It used to call for 16 ounce package when sizes were larger. Smaller amounts are for 14 ounce pkg of cranberries large for 16 ounce pkg of cranberries.Best made 3 days ahead for flavors to mingle but tastes good first day can make sugar free for diabetics
Ingredients:
14 ounces cranberries, fresh that have been frozen
1 -2 orange, use peel for salad, juice for liquid for jello
1 -1 1/2 cup sugar
20 ounces crushed pineapple
3 (3 ounce) packages jello gelatin, cherry, raspberry, regular or 3 (3 ounce) packages sugar-free jello
1 cup juice
2 cups cold water
3 cups hot water
1 cup nuts
Directions:
1. Use Orange juice and pineapple juice as part of liquid of 3 cups cold liquid for jello.
2. Use 3 cups Hot water for hot liquid. Add sugar to hot liquid. Use flavor Jello you desire 3 cherry, or 2 cherry &1 Raspberry or 1 orange & 2 raspberry Jello your choice.
3. Grind Cranberries and Orange peel add to jello when soft set along with the chopped nuts and drained pineapple.
