Cranberry Croquettes (Or Fritters)

This is very interesting and quite good. If you are looking for a new way to try out this years crop of cranberries give it a try.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons orange zest
3/4 cup grated cranberries, cooked in simple syrup and drained save syrup
1 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
Directions:
1. Mix all dry ingrediants.
2. beat egg and milk well.
3. Add to dry mix.
4. Add berries and lemon juice.
5. Drop by spoonfulls into1/2 inch hot oil, flatten and fry until crispy on both sides.
6. Drain on paper towels sprinle with powdered sugar.
7. Serve with warm syrup from cooking the berries.
