Ingredients:
10 ounces butter
10 ounces flour
5 ounces almonds, ground
4 egg yolks, hard boiled
5 ounces caster sugar
1/2 vanilla bean, ground to powder
4 egg whites, beaten stiff
4 ounces caster sugar
8 ounces apricot jam, sieved
5 ounces caster sugar
5 ounces apricot jam
1 tablespoon lemon juice
15 almond halves
Directions:
1. cream butter and sugar add eggs.
2. add vanilla bean
3. add flour and ground almonds
4. quickly knead pastry dough
5. divide dough in 5 parts
6. roll out
7. bake 4 or 5 thin round layers in a baking pan in turns
8. the layers should not be browned to much
9. but should be slightly golden
10. im guessin 375 for 10 minutes
11. filling
12. add sugar to egg whites cream until fluffy.
13. add sieved jam fold in
14. icing beat together everything but almonds
15. spread filling thinly betweeen layers
16. cover with icing
17. decorate with rosettes made from almond halves
18. best made 4 days in advance , so it matures and becomes crubly as hapiness.
