From Grandma's Wartime Edition Cookbook by Chef Ain't B's, this recipe originated Pre-1940's!
Ingredients:
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 large egg, well beaten
2 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted fat (butter)
Directions:
1. Mix and sift dry ingredients.
2. Combine beaten egg and milk
3. Add to dry ingredients.
4. Stir in shortening.
5. Pour onto hot griddle.
6. When bubbles start appearing on top, flip cake to cook other side.
