Ingredients:
2 cups cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups buttermilk
1/3 cup water
3 tablespoons bacon drippings
Directions:
1. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt, mixing well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to cornmeal mixture, stirring well. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
2. Spoon batter into a well greased 8 1/2- x 4 1/2- x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until golden brown.
