Ingredients:
1/2 lb unsalted butter
14 ounces soft brown sugar
2 eggs
12 ounces plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
5 fluid ounces buttermilk
1/4 lb walnuts, chopped
11 ounces raisins
6 ounces dried dates, chopped
Directions:
1. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add the eggs and beat well.
3. Stir in the dry ingredients and the buttermilk, then the nuts and fruit.
4. Drop spoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and bake at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.
5. Cool on a wire cooling rack and store in an airtight tin.
