Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

Directions:

  1. Combine all dry ingredients.
  2. Add shortening, egg, milk, and vanilla.
  3. Add boiling water and beat for 3 minutes.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
