Christmas Broccoli Salad

This old favorite is dressed up with cranberries for the Christmas season but the salad is great for potlucks and summer picnics too. Cranberries, seeds and nuts can often been found together in a Deluxe Fruit and Nut mix.
Ingredients:
1 -2 head broccoli
1/2 cup chopped red onion
1 cup shredded cheese
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup cashews
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
6 -8 slices bacon
Directions:
1. Fry bacon until crispy, drain grease and set aside.
2. Cut up broccoli flowerettes into bite-sized pieces, leaving just a little stem. Cut up enough for about 4 cups of flowerettes.
3. Add onion, cheese and dressing.
4. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or overnight.
5. Crumble bacon into bits, add to bowl and toss salad just before serving.
