CHOCOLATE SOUR CHERRY CAKE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Boyd Estate in Dallas, Texas in 1987.
Ingredients:
12 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 ounces semisweet chocolate
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup sifted flour with 1 tablespoon salt
6 eggs separated
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 can sour cherries drained
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Melt chocolate and butter together then let cool slightly.
3. Beat egg yolks and sugar until lemon colored.
4. Add chocolate and egg whites then pour into buttered spring form pan.
5. Sprinkle drained cherries evenly on top.
6. Bake 55 minutes then cool 15 minutes.
7. Run knife around edge to loosen.
8. Let cool completely and remove from pan.
