This is my favorite chocolate cookie recipe! My great grandmother used to call these brownie drops, but my father renamed them chocolate chokers after he inhaled immediately before eating one, and started coughing. I recommend leaving them in the refrigerator over night before baking; however my great grandmother would just cover them and set them outside for a few hours in winter time (that might only work in the mid-west though). This is my most requested cookie from my friends and co-workers.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
4 -6 baker's unsweetened chocolate squares (melted)
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 -2 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)
Directions:
1. 1. In small bowl mix together flour and baking powder and salt.
2. 2. In large bowl, mix together butter and chocolate until smooth. Add sugar and mix again until smooth.
3. 3. One at a time, add eggs to chocolate/sugar mixture, mixing till smooth between each egg addition. Add vanilla and mix again until smooth.
4. 4. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture in large bowl, mix well. Cover and chill completely.
5. 5. Roll in small balls approximately 1 teaspoon size, and roll in powdered sugar. Bake in a preheated oven set to 375 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes,.
