I enjoyed these fabulous treats over the Labor Day weekend and had to get the recipe. So rich, so creamy and just plain wonderful. The secret is whole chocolate bars in the middle of the batter. This is from a box, but don't tell.
Ingredients:
1 (17 5/8 ounce) package walnut brownie mix (duncan hines)
vegetable oil
water
eggs
3 (8 oz) symphony chocolate bars with almond and toffee (a must)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions:
1. Prepare the brownie mix according to package directions.
2. Add the Chopped Walnuts to the mix.
3. Line a 13 by 9-inch cake pan with aluminum foil and spray with vegetable oil cooking spray. Spoon in half of the brownie batter and smooth with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Place the candy bars side by side on top of the batter. (Do not break) Cover with the remaining batter.
4. Bake according to package directions. Let cool completely, then lift from the pan using the edges of the foil. This makes it easy to cut the brownies into squares.
