Chili-Cheese Sauce

This came from Better Homes and Gardens Fondue and Tabletop Cooking. I have not tried this recipe.
Ingredients:
8 ounces canned tomatoes
8 ounces process american cheese, shredded (2 cups)
1/3 cup finely chopped canned chilies
Directions:
1. Drain tomatoes, reserving juice. Finely cut up tomatoes; add cheese, chilies, and 1/3 cup reserved juice. Heat slowly till cheese melts, 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Serve warm. (If mixture thickens, stir in a little tomato juice).
