Yummy low sodium chili. Salt can be added to taste, but it will change the sodium amounts.
Ingredients:
3 cups chopped yellow onions
1 lb ground turkey - lean
28 ounce diced tomatoes, undrained
3 cups cooked pinto beans, divided
1 1/2 cups cooked black beans
1 cup red wine
2 tbsp chopped garlic
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp ground cumin
2 cups water
Directions:
1. Brown onions in a large dutch oven sprayed with non stick cooking spray.
2. Add ground meat to the onions, and cook until browned.
3. While meat is cooking, pour diced tomatoes into a slow cooker. Mash 1 cup of pinto beans and add to the tomatoes. Add remaining pinto beans, black beans, garlic, chili powder, oregano and cumin.
4. Once meat is finished cooking, add wine to meat and onion mixture and bring to a boil, scraping all browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add to the vegetables and spices in the slow cooker. Add enough water to bring to desired consistency.
5. Cook on high for about 4-5 hours until all flavors are blended together.
