Chile Cheese Batter Bread

A super easy accompaniment for chili, soup or just about any meal. Betty Crocker's Best of Baking.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (4-ounces)
1 can (4-ounces) chopped green chiles, well drained
1 cup buttermilk (1 cup of milk and 1 tbls. vinegar can be substituted for the buttermilk if needed)
1 tbls. vegetable oil
1 egg
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grease pie plate, 9X1 1/4-inches.
3. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in large bowl.
4. Add cheese and chiles; toss.
5. Stir in remaining ingredients just until flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy.)
6. Pour into pie plate.
7. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean; remove from pie plate.
8. Cool on wire rack.
