Chicken or Ground Beef Stroganoff

This recipe is great with either chicken or ground beef, it always hits the spot! Thanks mom for the recipe!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup onion, chopped or sliced
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 lb ground beef or 1 lb chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 cups sliced mushrooms, fresh, if you are not a big fan of mushrooms decrease to 1 cup
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
wide egg noodles or rice
Directions:
1. In a hot skillet saute' onions in butter or margarine.
2. Add in minced garlic, stir.
3. Stir in beef or chicken pieces and seasonings; saute' about 5 minutes or until meat is browned or chicken juices are no longer pink.
4. Add mushrooms, then soup and simmer about 10 minutes.
5. Stir in sour cream and heat but DO NOT boil.
6. Add a little milk if mixture is dry and season to taste.
7. Serve on hot noodles or rice.
