Ingredients:
2qts. fresh red sour cherries, pitted
2-1/2c sugar, divided
1/8tsp almond extract
2c flour
4tsp baking powder
1c milk
2t vegetable oil
whipped cream or ice cream
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375ยบ.
2. In a large bowl, combine cherries with 1-1/2 cups of sugar and the almond extract. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, milk and oil; mix well and pour into a greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Spoon cherry mixture over batter. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until tests done. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
