Cherry Pound Cake

I sometimes make this in cake pans and top this with my buttercream frosting Buttercream Frosting. Or I make it in a bundt pan and dust with powdered sugar. (I use 2 bottles maraschino cherries)
Ingredients:
3 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups shortening
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
16 ounces maraschino cherries
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
1. Sift together flour and baking powder; set aside.
2. Cream shortening and sugar.
3. Add eggs one at a time.
4. In a separate bowl combine milk, cherries, cherry juice and vanilla.
5. Add flour and milk mixtures alternately to sugar mixture.
6. Pour into a tube pan and bake at 350°F for 1 1/2 hours or bake in 3 layer pans for 45 minutes.
