Cherry Parfait Pie

I have yet to try this pie. I think it looks interesting and very easy. Let me know what you think. Cook time is chilling time.
Ingredients:
1 (3 ounce) package cherry gelatin
1 1/4 cups hot water
1 cup sweet cherries
1 pint cherry ice cream
1 (8 inch) baked pie shells
Directions:
1. Dissolve gelatin in hot water in a 2 quart saucepan.
2. Add cherries.
3. Add ice cream in pieces and stir until melted.
4. Chill until thickened, but not set, about 10 to 20 minutes.
5. Turn into pie shell.
6. Chill until firm, about 15 to 25 minutes.
