Cherry Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. light brown sugar , packed
  • 2 tbsp. cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3 tbsp. slivered almonds
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Coat 9 inch square baking dish with cooking spray
  3. Streusel
  4. In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar and brown sugar
  5. Cut in butter until crumbly
  6. Stir in almonds
  7. Cream cheese filling
  8. In mixing bowl, add cream cheese and sugar
  9. Stir until combined and smooth
  10. Cake
  11. In mixing bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extracts until blended
  12. In mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder and salt
  13. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to butter mixture and beat until blended
  14. Pour into pan
  15. Top with small spoonfuls of cheese mixture
  16. Top with cherries
  17. Sprinkle with streusel
  18. Bake 50 minutes
  19. Cool on wire rack
