Chef Robs Feel Better Soup

This recipe evolved by my Chef husband always seems to drive any funk I have picked up away (both emotional or physical) and makes me feel better. I thought someone else might need to feel better too! I am guessing at cook time, as we just let it simmer really low all day.
Ingredients:
64 ounces chicken broth
6 medium yukon gold potatoes (with or without skin)
8 ounces fresh carrots (cut)
1 bunch kale
8 ounces portabella mushrooms
1 lb ground italian sausage
1/4 cup heavy cream or 1/4 cup half-and-half
garlic powder (to taste)
salt (to taste)
pepper (to taste)
onion powder (to taste)
Directions:
1. Cook sausage, drain and rinse (or the soup will be greasy).
2. Add Chicken stock, cubed potatoes, carrots, Kale, mushrooms, and drained sausage in a stock pot and simmer on medium to medium low for a few hours until veggies are tender.
3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt to taste through out cooking.
4. Right before serving add heavy cream or half and half and slowly bring back up to a simmer.
