I ended up changing a current recipe on here so much that I felt like it should be it's own recipe. These aren't so Italian, they're more fast food style. However you can use Italian seasoned bread crumbs instead of plain if you want them more Italian. This recipe is also easily doubled. Great with marinara sauce or ranch :)
Ingredients:
5 pieces mozzarella string cheese, cut in half
1/4 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon oregano, crushed
1/2 teaspoon parsley, crushed
oil, for frying
Directions:
1. Heat oil in deep fryer, or pan to 400.
2. Combine the beaten egg and milk, mix well.
3. Combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, parsley. Mix well.
4. Dip the pieces of cheese into the milk, roll in the flour pressing lightly, then again in the milk.Then roll pieces of cheese in bread crumbs, covering completely.
5. **If you're busy in the kitchen, you can put them back into the freezer once breaded to chill for a little bit before frying**.
6. Fry until golden (2-3 minutes) or until cheese just starts to bubble out.
