This is the only cheese ball that I have ever liked. I got this recipe from my Mom and who knows where she got it from.
Ingredients:
2 (8 oz.) packages of cream cheese, softened
1 (6 oz.) package sharp cheddar cheese, grated (note: i do not recommend using the pre-shredded cheese for this as it has a starch coating that keeps it from sticking.)
2 (3 oz.) cans deviled ham (note: i have yet to find one smaller than 4.5 oz, i just use two of those.)
1 tsp. yellow mustard
2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. grated onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. tabasco sauce
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, etc.), optional
Directions:
1. Have all ingredients at room temperature.
2. Put cream cheese in mixer and beat until smooth.
3. Add ham and the rest of the ingredients, and mix well.
4. Put mixture in the refrigerator for two to three hours until firm.
5. Shape into a couple of balls and roll in finely chopped nuts.
6. Note: I usually make one with a nut coating and one without to please all at the party.
