Cheddar Cornmeal Sticks

an easy cheesy snack.
Ingredients:
the 90 minutes includes sitting time
2 cups finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine shredded cheese with butter
2. Let stand until room temperature, about one hour
3. Beat with electric mixer until well mixed
4. Stir in flour, cornmeal, salt, cayenne and nutmeg
5. Divide dough in half
6. Preheat oven to 350F
7. Lightly grease baking sheets, set aside
8. On a lightly floured surface, roll each dough half into a 12x4 inch rectangle
9. Using a sharp knife, slice dough into 4x1/2 inch pieces
10. Place dough pieces 1/2 inch apart on prepared baking sheets
11. Bake about 15 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned
12. Transfer to a wire rack to cool
13. Makes 48 crackers
