Cheap And Easy Lentil-barley Soup

I love this. I freeze in serving size containers and bring to work for lunch. Tastes best if made a day in advance. Cheap and easy.
Ingredients:
8 c. water
3 small to medium carrots, peeled and diced (about 1 cup diced)
1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
5 chicken, beef or vegetable bouillon cubes
1/2 tsp. garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp onion powder or 1 medium onion, diced
1/2 tsp celery salt or 1 stalk celery, diced
3/4 cup dried lentils
3/4 cup barley (not quick-cooking)
1/2 tsp dried rosemary
1/2 tsp ground oregano
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 14 oz. can seasoned southern kale greens, undrained
Directions:
1. Put everything except kale greens in a soup pot.
2. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
3. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 50 minutes.
4. Add kale greens.
5. Simmer 10 minutes longer to heat through.
