A carrot bread packed full of delicious spices!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup peeled and cored grated apple
1 cup raisins
4 teaspoons shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
1. Combine first 11 ingredients in saucepan.
2. Bring to a boil, then let simmer 5 minutes.
3. Sift in dry ingredients; mix thoroughly.
4. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
