Carrot and Yam Soup

Made this up while shredding carrots.
Ingredients:
8 large carrots, shredded
1 large yam, shredded
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 quart vegetable stock
1 tablespoon garam masala (to taste)
1 cup coconut milk
8 tablespoons heavy whipping cream (optional)
Directions:
1. Add shredded carrots and yams to a saucepan, and cook over medium heat, stirring until sizzling.
2. Add oats and vegetable stock and bring to a simmer.
3. Add garam masala, and carefully blend with an immersion blender until soup is creamy.
4. Add coconut milk and stir. Heat through, but don't let the soup boil.
5. Serve, with 1 tbsp heavy whipping cream, optional.
