Delicious morsels-nice to give away (or keep for yourselves!) because they are individually wrapped.
Ingredients:
1 # butter
2 # brown sugar
2 c white karo syrup
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
1 pinch of salt
2 tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. Use a heavy pan-stir ALL of the time, and use a candy thermometer.
2. Melt 1 # of butter over low heat. Remove from heat, and add everthing but the vanilla. Cook until candy thermometer reches 246 degrees.
3. Remove from stove, and add vanilla. Pour mixture into two greased 9x13 pans. Let cool for several hours
4. Cut into strips and wrap pieces into waxed paper. (Takes a bunch of time, so, to make it a little easier, I like to roll into little snakes these caramels and then wrap them..)
5. ***can cut recipe in half and still get terrific results!
