Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups hot water

Directions:

  1. In large mixing bowl combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, 2 teaspoons butter, milk, salt and walnuts.
  2. Mix well and set aside.
  3. In a large deep iron skillet caramelize 1/2 cup of sugar.
  4. When sugar is light brown add hot water and remaining sugar then bring to a boil and add remaining butter.
  5. Stir until blended then carefully drop teaspoonfuls of dumpling batter into hot liquid and cook for 5 minutes at 400.
  6. Stir gently and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.
