I adapted this from a recipe I found online. I used Red Delicious apples which made the pie really sweet. You can also use Granny Smith for a little more tart flavor. This pie is very sweet! I just made this for Thanksgiving and it didn't last the day. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 tablespoons melted butter
3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
5 large apples, peeled and sliced thinly
5 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
whipped cream
remaining caramel topping
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. In medium bowl, combine crumbs, sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix well and press into 10 inch pie plate.
3. Bake 6-8 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and cool completely. Pour caramel into shell and refrigerate.
5. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and add brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
6. Add apples and stir until apples are covered.
7. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes with lid on skillet until apples are tender.
8. Let apples cool and pour them into the pie crust.
9. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with remaining caramel topping.
10. Enjoy!
