Candied Christmas Nuts

I made these during the holiday season last year but used pecans instead of walnuts. They were excellent. I believe you could play around with what ever type of nuts easily available to you.
Ingredients:
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 cup milk
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon margarine
2 quarts walnuts
Directions:
1. Combine the sugar, milk, and margarine in a heavy saucepan, bring to a soft-ball stage on medium heat.
2. Add vanilla flavoring and salt, removed from heat, mix until creamy.
3. Add walnuts to mixture and stir until walnuts are well coated.
4. Spread on foil and seperate.
5. Cool before serving.
