The Caesar Cocktail is a uniquely Canadian drink, invented in Calgary Alberta some thirty plus years ago. Difficult to find a US bartender that knows what you are asking for, but an excellent and refreshing drink, especially when served all decked out as follows! Note that while Vodka is featured in the drink, it is not necessary to add, as the drink does very well in Virgin form.
Ingredients:
3 drops frank's red hot sauce
1 lemon wedges or 1 lime wedge
1 ounce vodka
celery salt
1/3 ounce lemon juice
ice cube
5 ounces clamato juice
2 grape tomatoes (mini grape type)
2 sweet pickled onions
2 ounces garlic sausage, cubed or 2 ounces pepperoni, cut to 1-inch lengths
1 jalapeno pepper, de-seeded
1/2 celery rib, using the leafy end
Directions:
1. Run lemon around the rim of a 8-10 oz stemmed glass.
2. Crust glass rim with celery salt.
3. Add hot sauce to glass, then ice.
4. Add Vodka and lemon juice.
5. Salt briefly with celery salt.
6. Pour in 1/2 of the Clamato Juice.
7. Add more celery salt.
8. Add remainder of Clamato Juice.
9. Add more celery salt.
10. Add lemon or lime wedge.
11. Stir with celery rib, and stire briefly to mix.
12. Assemble remaining ingredients on a small bamboo skewer, and hang above the glass rim as serving.
