Brussel Sprouts With Bacon and Walnuts

A family favorite, from the Ladie's Home Journal.
Ingredients:
4 cups brussels sprouts
4 slices thick-cut bacon, cut into 3/4 inch pieces
2 large shallots, thinly sliced
1/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon lightly packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
1. Trim and core the brussel sprouts, then remove the larger outer leaves from the smaller cores. Set aside.
2. Crisp the bacon in a large nonstick skillet, then remove bacon from pan, drain, and set aside. Saute the shallots in reserved bacon fat until tender, then add brussel sprouts. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally until just wilted. Add remaining ingredients, stir until combined. Serve immediately.
