Bruschetta with Tomato and Garlic

Ingredients:
8 (1/2-inch-thick) slices french bread
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 1/4 cups chopped plum tomato (about 3)
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dried basil or 1 1/2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh basil
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
Directions:
1. Place bread slices on an ungreased baking sheet; brush bread slices evenly with olive oil. Bake at 500° for 3 to 4 minutes or until lightly browned.
2. While bread bakes, combine tomato and remaining 5 ingredients in a small bowl; stir well. Spoon mixture evenly over toasted bread slices.
