Brown Sugared Rum Sauce

This is delicious over pound cake, apple cake, pumpkin roll or fresh fruit.
Ingredients:
2 eggs, separated
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons rum
nutmeg, freshly grated for garnish
Directions:
1. Beat egg yolks until thick.
2. Gradually beat in 1/4 cup of the brown sugar.
3. Set aside.
4. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
5. Gradually beat in remaining 1/4 cup of brown sugar.
6. Fold egg yolk/sugar mixture into meringue mixture.
7. Whip cream until soft peaks form and carefully stir in rum.
8. Fold this into egg/sugar mixture.
9. Spoon to serve.
