Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 dash salt
  • 6 tbsp butter, melted (1/4 cup)
  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Mix together butter, flour, salt and baking powder. Add sugar and raisins (optional).
  3. Kneed in the egg and milk. If mixture appears too dry, add more milk (if too moist, add more flour). Kneed to a nice, smooth dough.
  4. Roll the dough out on a floured board to 1/2 inch thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into triangles, about 2 inches per side.
  5. Place the scones on a lightly greased baking sheet and brush with a little beaten egg or butter.
  6. Bake 10-15 minutes until the bottoms of the scones are lightly colored. Serve hot with honey or cinnamon butter.
