Traditional old-fashioned sage stuffing with ideas for new variations.
Ingredients:
4 cups dry bread cubes
2 cups celery, diced into 1/2inch pieces
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 medium onions, chopped
1 tablespoon sage leaf, crushed
1 teaspoon salt
1 pinch black pepper
Directions:
1. in large bowl stir together all ingredients.
2. use to stuff 12-14 lb turkey.
3. Variations:.
4. Oyster Stuffing-add 2 cups oyster, drained and rinsed. reduce salt to 1/2 teaspoon.
5. Raisin Nut Stuffing-add 1 cup whole pecans or walnuts and 1 cup raisins.
6. Tip: prepare half of the recipe to stuff a 4-5 lb roasting chicken, duck or goose.
